Penvelope is a subscription letter service that writes you warm, personal letters at the frequency you choose. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep this deliberately plain so you always know where you stand.

Information we collect

• Account details. The name and email address you give us when you subscribe, so we can write to you and manage your account.
• Letter preferences. The topics, tone, and frequency you choose, and anything you share in your replies, so your pen pal can remember you and write letters that feel personal.
• Payment information. Your subscription is billed through Stripe. Stripe processes your card details directly and we never see or store your full card number. We keep only a record that a payment was made and its status.
• Basic usage data. Standard information such as your approximate region, device type, and how you found us, used to keep the service working and to improve it.

How we use your information

• To write and deliver your letters at the schedule you set.
• To remember what you have shared so future letters stay personal and consistent.
• To process your subscription, send receipts, and handle renewals or cancellations.
• To answer your questions and provide support.
• To keep the service secure and to understand how it is used so we can make it better.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the trusted services that make Penvelope run, and only as much as they need:

• Stripe for payment processing.
• Our email delivery provider to actually send your letters to your inbox.
• Service providers that help us host and operate the site.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and our service.

How your letters are written

Your letters are written with the help of artificial intelligence, guided by the preferences and details you share. We use this information only to craft your letters and to keep them consistent over time. We do not use the personal content of your replies to train third party public models.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies to keep the site working and to remember your session. We do not use advertising trackers that follow you around the web.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward so we can meet legal and accounting obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Your choices

• You can update your preferences or pause and cancel your subscription at any time.
• You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• You can ask us to correct or delete your information, subject to any legal obligations we have to keep it.

Children

Penvelope is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
